The results are in: Americans support global access to an effective COVID-19 vaccine and want to see stronger US leadership in the fight against preventable disease.
New polling conducted by Morning Consult on behalf of the ONE Campaign found over 80% of Americans believe healthcare workers, the elderly, and at-risk groups anywhere in the world should be the first to get a COVID-19 vaccine, before healthy people in the US.
With the 2020 presidential election approaching, the poll also found that three-quarters of registered voters would be more likely to vote for a presidential candidate that has a global plan to defeat COVID-19, and forms alliances with other countries to develop and produce treatments and vaccines.
Regardless of who wins the upcoming election this November, the next US president will not only need to address the current global pandemic at hand, but must plan for how to predict, prevent, and respond to pandemics in the future.
Americans across the country have spoken loud and clear — we can’t end this pandemic anywhere until we end it everywhere. Sign on to our ONE Vote platform calling on US presidential candidates and Congress to commit to making global health a key priority of their agendas.
