3 reminders before Election Day

ONE

Our elected officials hold a lot of power so don’t forget we’re the ones that give it to them!

Before you exercise that power at the polls, here are a few things to keep in mind.

Make a plan

This one seems obvious, but it is important you don’t just talk the talk about voting. Get out there and make it happen in-person or via mail in ballot. Each state has different guidelines, so check your voter registration status ASAP and create a voting game plan so you’re ready to go on or before November 5, especially if you plan to vote by mail.

Friends don’t let friends not vote, so make sure you remind the people in your life to make a plan too.

Do your research before you vote

No one likes homework. But with so much at stake, take the time before Election Day to find out which candidates align with your thinking on issues like supporting US foreign aid, especially those focused on creating economic opportunities and healthier lives in Africa.

Don’t forget to keep the same energy after the election, too

Your power doesn’t end in the voting booth, and that’s one of the reason’s why ONE is here! After your elected officials take office, keep in touch with them. Make sure they know what their constituents want and encourage them to stick to their promises.

Looking for an easy way to do that? If you’re not already, join our email list! ONE provides timely action alerts for contacting decision makers about poverty fighting policies plus volunteer opportunities to get involved in your community.

One more thing…

We want to see your spin on the classic ‘I Voted’ sticker! We will select one winner (US residents only), send them some printed stickers and merch to show off to their friends on Election Day and feature the design on our social media. Who said exercising your civic duty couldn’t be fun?
