ONE Works to Engage Key Leaders at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Annual Public Policy Conference
Washington D.C. – ONE: The Campaign To Make Poverty History engaged Hispanic lawmakers, policy experts, scholars, business leaders, entertainers, community activists and young leaders this week in the fight against global disease and extreme poverty during the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s (CHCI) Public Policy Conference. During the annual two-day conference, ONE signed up new members, showcased its growing movement and discussed the opportunity America has to beat back extreme poverty and save millions of lives.
“The Hispanic Caucus Public Policy Conference was a key opportunity for the ONE Campaign to expand awareness for our efforts among leaders in the Hispanic community,” said Kimberly Cadena, the ONE Campaign’s spokesperson. “ONE is talking face-to-face with America’s leaders, legislators and change makers, and the message is clear: we have the power and proven solutions to save lives around the world. The time to act is now.”
ONE’s participation in the 2007 CHCI Public Policy Conference comes one week after its participation in the Congressional Black Caucus’ 37th Annual Legislative Conference, an event that brought together more than 20,000 participants, including world leaders, lawmakers, policy experts, scholars and entertainers. ONE’s involvement in the two events signify, which both took place at the Washington D.C. Convention Center, ONE singed up more than 300 new members.
