ONE Welcomes Bipartisan Senate Food Aid Reform Bill
WASHINGTON – The ONE Campaign welcomes the introduction of the Food for Peace Reform Act of 2014. This bipartisan bill contains long-awaited reforms that would provide much needed flexibility to the way the United States currently delivers its food aid.
Tom Hart, U.S. Executive Director of ONE, says:
“We applaud Senators Chris Coons (D-DE) and Bob Corker (R-TN) for their common sense approach to modernizing the way the US delivers food aid around the world. This legislation would save 7 to 9 million more lives at no additional costs by removing red tape and using taxpayer dollars more efficiently.
We urge Congress to ensure that these smart reforms are passed into law. When millions of lives are on the line due to a shortage of food, these reforms will ensure that the generosity of the American people will reach more people, more quickly, and at a lower cost.”
