ONE Applauds IMF Decision to Use $2.7B to Help World’s Poorest Countries
WASHINGTON – ONE applauds today’s decision by the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to approve the use of $2.7 billion in windfall gold sales profits to keep loans to the world’s poorest countries at extremely low interest rates.
“We commend IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde and her staff for championing this important step toward helping the world’s poorest countries on their path toward greater prosperity, economic opportunity, and the elimination of extreme poverty,” says ONE U.S. Executive Director Tom Hart.
