Hollywood Brings Message of Hope for Africa to Heartland with ONE
Washington, D.C.– ONE announced a new internet campaign today to reach and engage millions of Americans in the fight against global AIDS and extreme poverty.
Viewpoint and AOL will support ONE’s efforts by donating campaign space for the world premiere of ONE’s new spot, starring some of the biggest names in music and Hollywood, including Tom Hanks, George Clooney, Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, Penelope Cruz, Brad Pitt, Gwen Stefani, Dave Matthews, Coldplay, Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, 50 Cent and Bono.
The new ad, a 30-second video in support of ONE, will have its premiere today, March ONE, launching an unprecedented internet campaign to reach millions of Americans. The video invites viewers to visit WWW.ONE.ORG to learn more about the emergency of global AIDS and extreme poverty and what they can do to help save millions of lives in the world’s poorest countries.
Building on the enormous success of the historic Live 8 events, AOL has again joined with ONE to reach its 110 million users, exclusively premiering ONE’s new ad spots on Wednesday, March 1 on AIM Today (http://www.aimtoday.com), AOL.com/Television and TMZ.com (http://www.tmz.com). The: 30 spots will continue to roll out across the AOL service and AOL.com beginning on March 2 as part of a multi-month campaign donated by AOL.
Using the power of the internet, ONE is helping Americans raise their voices as ONE against the emergency of AIDS and extreme poverty, joining together to ask leaders to do more to save millions of lives in the world’s poorest countries. Today, over 1 billion people live on less than $1 a day, and every day in Africa, HIV/AIDS kills 6,600 people, 8,500 people are infected with the HIV virus and at least 1,400 newborn babies are infected during childbirth.
Viewpoint has also stepped forward in the fight against AIDS and poverty by aiming to deliver two billion ad impressions for ONE in 2006. Building on the success of its efforts to date with ONE, the leading internet marketing technology company is working in partnership with top internet publishers, generously donating space to run the ONE public service announcement and sign up supporters.
“Our partnership with ONE is evolving, and we are pleased that our internet marketing technology can help ONE to easily reach millions of people across the web who want to get involved in this campaign,” said Patrick Vogt, CEO of Viewpoint. “It is important for companies to do this kind of work, where you can both benefit your business and at the same time give back to the community.”
