Bono’s Statement on the Selection of Dr. Jim Yong Kim as President of the World Bank

Washington, D.C. —Bono, the Co-founder of ONE and (RED), issued the following reaction to the selection of Dr. Jim Yong Kim as President of the World Bank:

“I’ve travelled America’s heartland with Jim and a gaggle of AIDS activists and he truly is one of the gang, an ardent activist for the world’s poorest. It’s deeply exciting to think of the World Bank with Jim at the helm. I know Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala even better. She is on ONE’s board and we have all benefitted from her brilliant counsel. She was an excellent candidate for this job and we look forward to the day when such candidates for top international positions such as Ngozi and Jose Antonio Ocampo are given full consideration by an equally excellent process.”
