ONE applauds Biden global vaccine allocation plan
The ONE Campaign issued the below statement today welcoming the Biden administration’s allocation plan for sharing 55 million COVID-19 vaccine doses globally.
While wealthy countries continue ramping up vaccinations and return to normal, COVID-19 cases are surging around the world, particularly in Africa. Less than 1 percent of COVID-19 vaccine doses globally have been administered to people in low-income countries.
Tom Hart, acting CEO at The ONE Campaign:
“The Biden administration’s plan for sharing more COVID-19 vaccine doses globally will help end the pandemic faster and save lives.
“While the US can and must lead the global COVID-19 response, America alone cannot solve this global pandemic. The G7’s vaccine commitment earlier this month was extremely underwhelming, and other wealthy countries must do more to quickly share doses and increase vaccine supply globally.
“As life begins to return to normal in the US and other wealthy countries, we must not forget that the pandemic is still raging in other parts of the world.”
