A how-to guide to becoming a ONE supporter

ONE

ONE’s supporters hail from all walks of life and across the globe, coming together for simply one mission: to ensure that everyone, regardless of where they live, can live a life of dignity and opportunity.

But for those who are just getting familiar with ONE and the work that we do, there are many ways to become a ONE supporter, ranging from taking a simple action to becoming an official ONE activist.

Here’s a closer look.

Sign our petitions

At ONE, we’re advocating for a lot. Whether we’re asking governments to invest in every child’s education, demanding that rich countries share surplus COVID-19 vaccine doses, or demanding world leaders to come together to create a global response to COVID-19, there are a lot of moving parts to change the world for the better. The easiest way to take action and join the cause all while supporting ONE’s efforts is to sign one of our petitions. Take a look at our current global campaigns to get started.

Follow us on social media

The simplest and easiest way to keep up with the latest news, stories, campaigns, and more from ONE is by following us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. ONE also has a number of offices around the world, so make sure to give them a follow, too, to keep up with the latest happenings in each country.

Sign up for our weekly newsletter

Staying informed is essential to our work and to enacting change. And with an ever-changing global health crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic, keeping up with current events is more important than ever. Keep up with the latest news, information, and stories on COVID-19’s impacts in Africa, and show your support for ONE by signing up for our weekly Aftershocks newsletter.

Get involved locally with ONE

One of the most direct ways to become a ONE supporter is to officially become a ONE activist. The type of supporter you can become, however, varies as each of our supporter programs are a part of our larger Global Activists program with over 1,000 activists spanning across the globe. The different types are:

  • ONE Youth Ambassador: The Youth Ambassador Programmes provide more than 300 young activists across Europe with the means to act to end extreme poverty by campaigning within and beyond their communities, by amplifying ONE’s work with media, and by advocating with decision-makers at European, national, regional, and local levels.
  • ONE Champions: Our Champions, who span across Senegal, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Kenya, and beyond, are a committed group of passionate volunteers who are working to end extreme poverty and support ONE’s advocacy work. Champions campaign on behalf of ONE, pressure policymakers to work to end extreme poverty, and much more.
  • North American Activists: Spanning the US and Canada, ONE’s activists organize locally, based on their elected representatives in Congress in the US and their Members of Parliament in Canada. They mobilize their communities to write, call, and meet with their elected officials to build influence in support of ONE’s policy priorities. Additionally, ONE’s student activists in the US also build chapters at colleges, as part of our ONE Campus program, where they organize their fellow students to take impactful advocacy actions.
