ONE Congratulates President George W. Bush on Library Dedication
WASHINGTON — The ONE Campaign congratulates former U.S. President George W. Bush on today’s dedication of the George W. Bush Presidential Center at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
Tom Hart, U.S. Executive Director of ONE, says:
“It’s fitting that today’s dedication is taking place on World Malaria Day, as one of President George W. Bush’s signature achievements in office was an unprecedented commitment to the fight against preventable disease, particularly in Africa.
Thanks to initiatives such as The President’s Malaria Initiative, PEPFAR and The Global Fund – conceived by the Bush administration and supported by both parties in Congress – millions of lives have been saved in the past decade and diseases such as HIV/AIDS, Malaria and TB are on the decline.
President Bush’s leadership and President Obama’s support and expansion of these life-saving programs is one of the great bipartisan legacies of this generation.”
