ONE’s Reaction to President Obama and Governor Romney’s Remarks on Foreign Policy at the U.N. General Assembly and the Clinton Global Initiative

SEPTEMBER 25, 2012 – Anti-poverty group ONE issued the following statement on remarks made today by President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney at the U.N. General Assembly and the Clinton Global Initiative in New York.

ONE President and CEO Michael Elliott:

“We were pleased that in their speeches in New York today, both President Obama and Governor Romney reasserted the importance of American engagement with the world and the contribution that U.S. programs – and the generosity of the American people – has made in fighting poverty, hunger, and preventable disease, enabling people to live with dignity. The speeches underscore the fact that, even during a heated election cycle, there are no sides in the fight against extreme poverty. ONE and its 3 million members will continue to campaign for support for such programs, in the U.S. and around the world.”
