“We were pleased that in their speeches in New York today, both President Obama and Governor Romney reasserted the importance of American engagement with the world and the contribution that U.S. programs – and the generosity of the American people – has made in fighting poverty, hunger, and preventable disease, enabling people to live with dignity. The speeches underscore the fact that, even during a heated election cycle, there are no sides in the fight against extreme poverty.
