Washington, D.C.-ONE, a global anti-poverty group, today announced that Kimberly Hunter has joined ONE’s Communication team as its new U.S. Press Secretary. In her new role, Kimberly will serve as ONE’s official spokeswoman, developing and executing proactive media strategies to advance ONE’s key goals and agenda, in addition to cultivating relationships with reporters and U.S. media outlets.  Kim also works closely with ONE’s policy, community partnerships, and government affairs teams, as well as coordinating with communications staff in ONE’s London and Berlin offices.

Kimberly joins ONE after seven years working in Democratic politics.  Prior to ONE, she served as Virginia Senator Jim Webb’s Press Secretary since his election in 2006. During her time in Senator Webb’s office, Kimberly was integral in raising the public awareness and the political support to pass legislation to provide a new GI Bill for returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. In addition to her focus on the armed services and national security, Kimberly also executed media strategies to support the successful creation of a Commission on Wartime Contracting to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In addition to her experience on Capitol Hill, Kimberly also worked on the communications teams at the Democratic National Committee and in the office of Senator Edward Kennedy. A graduate of George Washington University with a degree in political communication, Kim also holds a Masters from GW’s Graduate School of Political Management.  Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, she has lived in D.C. for the past nine years.
