Jimmy Eat World Launches ONE Campus Outreach at Michigan State University to Fight Global AIDS and Poverty!
EAST LANSING, MI — On Sept. 4, 2004 ONE and Michigan State University will welcome modern rock act, Jimmy Eat World, at the MSU Auditorium for the official launch of ONE’s campus outreach.
ONE will join the band at MSU on Sept. 4 to recruit sign-ups to ONE petition and to launch an extensive campus outreach that will involve close to 100 college campuses across the United States in the next year to raise awareness and help build a constituency in the fight against global AIDS and extreme poverty.
ONE, a diverse coalition of faith-based and antipoverty groups, celebrity spokespeople as well as corporate partnerships and local ONE organizers, is a new effort to rally Americans, ONE by ONE, to fight global AIDS and extreme poverty and is engaging Americans across the nation to take a stand to help make this world a better place for all. ONE College Outreach will include information tables at student activity fairs and host gatherings on campuses around the country during the first few weeks of school and into the year.
The Sept. 4 show will be the first time Jimmy Eat World has played in Michigan in over two years. The show is expected to contain material from their new album “Futures” which will be available in stores on Oct. 19, 2004. Fans can hear a sneak preview of a select few songs on the band’s official Web site, www.jimmyeatworld.com.
“We are honored to take part in this event with the One Campaign,” announced the band on their website earlier this week. “The One Campaign is a great tool to inspire passion in the apathetic–to remind us to simply help our neighbors in the world. It’s so simple, but yet we seem to forget so easily. Thanks to these good Samaritans who help all of us remember the needs of others. The first step we can all take is to simply sign the One Campaign petition at www.ONE.org”
This event is open to the public and all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend. Tickets are $18.50.
