WASHINGTON — The ONE Campaign issued the below statement today following the release of President Biden’s skinny budget request for Fiscal Year 2022, which contains a 11.9% increase for State and International Operations and marks a stark departure from recent presidential budget proposals. President Trump’s final budget request for FY21 included a roughly 20% cut to State and Foreign Operations. President Biden is expected to release the full details of his budget later this spring.
Tom Hart, acting CEO, The ONE Campaign:
“Following four years of presidential budget proposals that threatened the lives and livelihoods of the world’s most vulnerable, this framework from the Biden administration sends a hopeful signal to the world that America is back.”
“For decades, bipartisan leaders in both chambers have worked together to expand and protect programs that help end extreme poverty and combat preventable disease. We look forward to seeing the full details of President Biden’s budget and urge Congress to build on its rich bipartisan tradition of passing budgets that promote America’s values and advance our global interests.”
