All over the world, lives have been put on hold due to COVID-19, and students have not been spared. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, school closures have interrupted children’s learning since March 2020, when for the first time studies were suspended by order of the President of the Republic. At the beginning of the lockdown, teachers did not know how long it would last. So that studies could continue, pupils were given homework, but the system didn’t work...

Mai Mahiu is a bustling trading centre that never sleeps. It is a long-distance truck stop that sits in the shadow of a massive escarpment at the bottom of the Rift Valley, about an hour west of Nairobi, the Kenyan Capital. Here, tucked between single-story shops selling household consumables, agricultural supplies, and truck spare parts, along a dusty street parallel to the Nairobi – Kampala highway, you’ll find Ubuntu Life Education Centre.
This is where Teresia Njeri Ngugi, mother of...

A global crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic requires a unified, coordinated global effort to end the crisis. That’s where our ONE World campaign comes in. Our message? A global pandemic requires a global response. World leaders must agree on a global response plan and ensure that low-income countries are not left behind so that everyone, everywhere can see an end to the pandemic. Behind the Table View police station in Milnerton, Cape Town, the Community Intervention Centre, painted a dazzling white, shines as a beacon of hope for women fleeing gender-based violence. With safe and effective vaccines to fight the COVID-19 virus, the question of “if” the pandemic will end has shifted to “when.” But as we’ve seen in our new animated series “Pandemica,” the pandemic won’t simply end with a vaccine, but when everyone, everywhere has access to it. If the virus remains unchecked anywhere in the world, it will continue to breach borders, mutate, and severely impact the global economy.
So how well are we doing in making sure everyone...
“Pandemica” is ONE’s newest animated content series about a world where the pandemic never ends — it’s a never-ending pandemic purgatory. From showcasing how vaccine hoarding will impact populations to what will happen if the COVID-19 virus continues to mutate, Pandemica sheds light on the reality that billions of people are experiencing right now as one-third of the world’s countries have yet to receive a single dose of COVID-19 vaccines, and what the entire world could experience if vaccine...
ONE’s global supporters play a key role in supporting ONE’s mission and sharing our messages with the world. From demanding action from world leaders to watching and sharing our newest animated series, “Pandemica,” our supporters work hard to support our mission each day. And for those who want to make their support a little more personal, we’ve got just the thing: Pandemica backgrounds.
About the backgrounds
The only way the COVID-19 pandemic will end is when everyone, everywhere has access to...
Welcome to Pandemica. It’s a never-ending pandemic purgatory, where COVID-19 never goes away, but continues to mutate and cross borders. It’s the most deadly place on earth, where twice as many people die, the global economy loses an additional US$9.2 trillion, and life as we once knew it does not return for anyone. Sound familiar?
We’re all in Pandemica. To escape, we need to act now. Having safe and effective vaccines within a year of the first reported COVID-19 cases...

Tony Elvin, IKhaya Le Langa’s founder, sits inside the retro 1950’s style eatery, “The Sun Diner,” after Langa, which means “the sun.” It’s flanked by two repurposed shipping containers, one a bright cobalt blue. He’s nurturing a puppy that arrived at IKhaya Le Langa’s gates the day before. It’s not hard to tell that IKhaya Le Langa, in part, means “home.”
That’s what Elvin wants the IKhaya Le Langa...
