Bono calls for German leadership to end the scourge of extreme poverty and preventable disease
Ahead of meetings with political leaders in Berlin, ONE co-founder Bono said:
“Whatever force broke through concrete, steel and prejudice 25 years ago to build a new future for Germany, the world needs right now. 2015 marks the start of a whole new deal with the developing world and we need the German people to lead us in demolishing another monolith: the scourge of extreme poverty and preventable disease. It’s a historic moment for the Chancellor.
“As we confront Ebola, crack down on corruption, and craft a set of new global goals that can deliver a decent shot at life for all of us and for our planet, all eyes are on Germany. I’m humbled that this country’s policy makers are willing to listen to a few modest ideas for we make this happen in 2015.
“The Ebola crisis is stirring not just policy makers. Artists and musicians are coming together to play their part. African artists are leading the way, the rest of us following. I’m proud to add my voice.”
