ONE Campaign reacts to Boris Johnson’s absence from Joe Biden’s vaccine summit
Please see the comment below from ONE Campaign UK director Romilly Greenhill responding to the Prime Minister’s absence from today’s crucial summit hosted by President Biden as part of a renewed effort to agree a global plan to end the global COVID-19 pandemic. The Prime Minister had been scheduled to speak at the summit, which came a day after he met President Biden in person at the White House.
Romilly Greenhill, UK Director at the ONE Campaign said: “Boris Johnson’s absence from this crucial summit raises serious questions about Britain’s role on the world stage. If we aren’t ready to lead from the front in the fight against a pandemic that has caused so much harm at home and abroad then it is hard to see what Global Britain really stands for. It’s critical that after failing to share a stage with so many other world leaders, that the Prime Minister urgently sets out how the UK will play its part in delivering the ambitious plans set out today to end the pandemic for good.”ENDS-
