ONE’s Reactions in English, German, French to the Biarritz Declaration for a G7 & Africa Partnership and the Sahel Partnership Action Plan

« Il ne suffit pas de donner aux documents des titres comme “plan d’action” pour en faire des plans d’action. Ces déclarations ne comprennent aucun engagement concret. Les déclarations d’intention ne changeront pas la donne pour les millions de femmes qui ne savent pas lire ni écrire, qui n’ont pas accès aux comptes bancaires ou qui sont mariées de force. 

Le sommet avait pourtant commencé de manière encourageante: les pays africains avaient été associés dès le début, de premières annonces financières pour l’Afrique et le développement ont été prises. Et aujourd’hui la montagne accouche d’une souris. Les dirigeants ont encore quelques heures pour annoncer de véritables engagements dont il sera possible de faire le suivi, et pas seulement des déclarations d’intentions dont l’utilité reste à prouver. »

“These declarations carry the words “action plan” in name only. Giving great names to these documents is not enough to hide the lack of concrete commitments within them. Vague statements of intent will not change the situation for the millions of women who cannot read or write, who do not have access to bank accounts or who have been forced into marriage.

“The summit had started in an encouraging way: African countries had been involved from the beginning, the first financial announcements for Africa and development had been made. Not much of this can be seen today.

“There are still a few hours left for leaders to announce real commitments that can be followed up, not just declarations of intent.”

G7 Biarritz: Reaktion von ONE auf die Biarritz-Erklärung für eine G7-Afrika-Partnerschaft und den Plan für eine Sahel-Partnerschaft 

“Beide Erklärungen tragen “Aktionsplan” nur im Titel. Doch Dokumente mit vielversprechenden Titeln zu versehen, kann nicht darüber hinwegtäuschen, dass es an konkreten Verpflichtungen mangelt. Vage Absichtserklärungen werden die Situation für die Millionen von Frauen, die nicht lesen oder schreiben können, die keinen Zugang zu Bankkonten haben oder zur Ehe gezwungen wurden, nicht ändern.” Röder fährt fort: “Es ist eine Enttäuschung, dabei hatte der Gipfel ermutigend begonnen: Afrikanische Länder waren von Anfang an dabei, erste finanzielle Ankündigungen für Afrika und Entwicklung wurden gemacht. Davon ist jetzt nicht mehr viel zu sehen. Es bleiben nur noch wenige Stunden, in denen die Staats- und Regierungschefs echte Verpflichtungen ankündigen müssen, nicht nur Absichtserklärungen.”
