The ONE Campaign response to The International Development Bill following the second reading in the House of Lords
Speaking after the International Development Bill passed its second reading in the House of Lords, Diane Sheard, UK Director of The ONE Campaign, said:
“We are pleased to see this Bill pass its second reading in the House of Lords and continue its journey to becoming law. The Bill received overwhelming backing in the Commons last month and we are glad to see this repeated in the Lords.
“All major parties promised to pass a law investing just 0.7 per cent of the UK’s national income in aid in their 2010 manifestoes. That means over 97 per cent of MPs currently sitting ran on a ticket in the last election that included this long-standing commitment.”
