ONE Campaign response to David Cameron’s comments on Nigeria being “fantastically corrupt” ahead of London Anti-Corruption Summit
“Mr Cameron’s claim means the summit is now being watched intently by Nigerians as well as all those other countries blighted by corruption. Nigerians are the victims of corruption and Nigerians are fighting to stamp it out,” said Edwin Ikhuoria, ONE’s country representative in Nigeria.
“We will not succeed unless Prime Minister Cameron and the other summit delegates play their part, including opening the books in their own countries, naming and dealing with corruption enablers in the global financial system in the UK and elsewhere as well as ensuring global transparency commitments at this summit deliver real change for our citizens.”
