David Barnard currently serves as the Programme Director of EPIC-Africa, an organisation that harnesses the power of data and technology in building the infrastructure for philanthropy in Africa. In the past, he served as Vice-President of Africa at TechSoup, Executive Director of the Southern African NGO Network (SANGONeT) and Manager of the Programme for Development Research at the Human Sciences Research Council. He also served on the e-Skills Council and Presidential National Commission on the Information Society for Development in South Africa and the Board of NTEN: The Nonprofit Technology Enterprise Network in the United States.
David has extensively published and presented on issues relating to development and ICT4D in Africa. His areas of expertise include the role in the international development, funding, philanthropy and NGO sectors in Africa, corporate citizenship and the contribution of information and ICT in support of development processes.
David holds BA and BA (Hons) degrees (both cum laude) from Stellenbosch, South Africa. He has participated in management training at Cranfield University in the United Kingdom and the City University of New York.
