When it comes to global events, New York in September is the place to be. The ONE Campaign was out in full force at UNGA 2024, leading conversations on innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges – and celebrating our 20th anniversary.
Our flagship event, “Africa at the Forefront of Global Financing Solutions,” fused policy and pop culture to explore how we can make sure Africa is treated as an equal player on the global stage.
Some highlights:
- ABC News’ Deborah Roberts kicked us off by celebrating ONE’s 20-year history, including 25 million actions taken and an additional $1 trillion mobilized in development finance
- ONE co-founder Jamie Drummond and current President and CEO Ndidi Okonkwo Nwuneli discussed ONE’s history and our next 20 years of impact
- UNDP Assistant Secretary General Ahunna Eziakonwa, Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Treasury Alexia Latortue, and ONE’s Serah Makka discussed Africa’s seat at the global decision-making table and why we need African solutions to global problems
- CNN’s Larry Madowo moderated a riveting debate between mPedigree’s Bright Simons and ONE’s Jenny Ottenhoff on whether the golden age of health replenishments is over
- Director General of the Africa CDC Dr. Jean Kaseya, DFC Deputy CEO Nisha Biswal, and the UN’s Jean-Paul Adam discussed the future of global health financing
- ONE formally launched our new Trillions Tracker, which lays out the development financing gap world leaders must act urgently to close
- A packed reception featuring remarks from ONE Board Chair Tom Freston, Rockefeller Foundation President Raj Shah, actress and playwright Danai Gurira, Nigerian singer Patoranking, and WNBA star Chiney Ogwumike
Our incredible Youth Ambassador Anoushka Sinha closed us out with an inspiring reminder to imagine how much we can achieve together.
