Neither sun and storms could stop ONE Members in South America from coming out to the U2 360° Tour. With shows in Santiago, Buenos Aires, and São Paulo, 185 ONE volunteers dedicated their time to signing up almost 42,000 new members to the organization. Such an incredible job done by all!

ONE members in São Paulo, Brazil
It truly represents the commitment, the passion and the heartfelt dedication shown by all the ONE volunteers I met and their desire to educate their friends and neighbours on the issues of extreme poverty.
ONE member, Tomas Kepple Borba, shared his experience of volunteering at the U2 show in São Paulo. And I think this sums it up nicely….
A couple years ago I found out about ONE on the internet, became very interested in the campaign and became a member. Whenever I could, I would help campaigning through social networks mainly, and tried to get friends involved, too. A few weeks ago I got an email from Maura inviting me to be a volunteer at the U2 360° Tour concerts in São Paulo. I immediately signed up, and arranged to go to São Paulo for the second concert, even though it included getting up at 5:30 AM to catch a bus. It was an opportunity to really get involved with the cause, find out more about it and, of course, watch an amazing concert. Not only were my expectations fulfilled, but far exceeded!
When I arrived at the venue, Morumbi Stadium, I already knew it was going to be good. I soon started chatting with other volunteers, all fantastic people, and we will for sure all maintain contact! At the set time we met Maura, a really nice and enthusiastic person – really inspiring! She gave us a summary of what we would be doing and told us more about ONE, and before we knew it we were out with the mission to sign up as many new member as we could, talking to U2 fans from all over Brazil! Doing so we helped strengthen ONE, which gains more and more power to fight against extreme poverty, as it gets more members! The process involved telling people about ONE, since many had not heard about it, and inviting them to become a member and sign the petition for more investments in the new vaccines against pneumonia and diarrhoea – the two biggest causes of child death in the world.
Although most of the time we only exchanged a couple sentences with the people we signed up, it was an amazing experience to interact with so many people from all over the country (and even the world) – I think I had never talked to so many new people in such a short time! Surely an experience for life!
At the end, we were all very tired, our feet aching from standing up and walking up and down the lines, and fingers sore from typing so many names, but also very happy! To do something selfless, for a cause that was much bigger then all of us together, was an incredible and very rewarding experience – a day that all of us volunteers will remember! A sensation that is impossible to put in to words! As if the whole experience wasn´t good enough, we had the opportunity to watch one of the most amazing concerts ever!
It is very hard to put in to words the sensation of participating in something like we did, and I’m sure that all of us will keep it in our hearts forever, and now want to participate even more then before! Brazil and South America are together with ONE in the fight against extreme poverty!
I continue to remain grateful and inspired by Tomas and every person that I have met along the way in South America and I look forward to giving a voice to the voiceless with each and every one of you.
On to Mexico City and then North America!!
Thanks to everyone and much love,
Maura

Our job is not over, right comrades?
I’m very proud of our work, courage and willingness. We made for a great and noble cause.
“Long Life” to ONE, and all who are not registered, have accessed the site and signed up later. Let all who have registered deeply understand the importance of their voices to this cause.
The show was beautiful, our participation was beautiful … Everything was great!
In memory, recall, in heart the joy of having participated.
That we can bring ONE to South America!
Warm hugs to everyone!

In Argentina we reffer to our fellow Sout Americans as “hermanos americanos” (meaning: “(south) american siblings), and it seems like we’re actually creating a brotherhood / sisterhood of volunteers here (not only South Americans)!
We’re “ONErs without borders” LOL
Loved the experience! Would do it all over again!! Let’s hope we’ll all be able to work together soon!!!
@Maura, as always, my best wishes for you!

“On to Mexico City and then North America!!”
but you already know that Mexico City is in a country that it’s part of North America… right?
