Outreach Coordinator

The ONE Campaign is dedicated to helping Africa beat AIDS and achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by raising public awareness about the issues of global poverty, hunger, disease and efforts to fight such problems in the world's poorest countries.  ONE is a growing and dynamic NGO with offices in Washington, DC, London, Berlin and Abuja.

We are seeking an Outreach Coordinator whose primary responsibility will be to work with the Director of Outreach and other team members to coordinate a range of activities related to ONE’s priority of deepening its engagement with various constituencies, including government agencies, racially diverse communities, the business community, and students.  This highly professional, motivated, energetic, and well organized individual will work with the Director of Outreach to manage and provide support to organizational outreach initiatives, such as:

  • Supporting the Director’s outreach to the Executive Branch
  • Helping to create customized outreach initiatives and communications to target constituency groups
  • Conducting ongoing research of a subset of ONE’s constituency groups

ONE is a dynamic, fast moving, high impact organization that consistently embraces new opportunities and projects to achieve its mission.  As a result, this position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, and an interest in embracing and executing new projects/tasks as they arise.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend internal and external meetings with Director of Outreach; prepare meeting agendas and materials
  • Manage meeting follow up, including correspondence, research, briefing materials, and internal information sharing
  • Work collaboratively with Outreach and other teams to develop targeted outreach initiatives:
  • Prepare work plans, budgets, and detailed timelines for specific projects
  • Track progress on ONE’s outreach initiatives, including monitoring status and next steps, and following up on outstanding items
  • Provide support to manage projects through to completion
  • Draft outreach materials and documents for use internally and externally and conduct internal briefings on outreach initiatives
  • Coordinate with other departments to a) help formulate approaches related to outreach, pull together and synthesize information and b) ensure integration of outreach initiatives across the organization
  • Nurture relationships with key external contacts through regular phone calls, e-mails, conducting meetings and drafting correspondence
  • Manage the department presence on the organization’s intranet and help manage interns

POSITON REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors required.  M.A. Degree in Public Policy or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years project and task management experience
  • Experience in political and/or policy arena preferred
  • Detail oriented and ability to successfully multi-task
  • Superior critical thinking and relationship-building skills; ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, results oriented with a strong work ethic
  • Strict confidentiality and a proven ability to exercise good judgment are essential   
  • Ability to demonstrate highly collaborative work style; strong sense of teamwork

Reports To:     Director of Outreach 
Location:         Washington, DC
