ONE Welcomes Eric Goosby as Global AIDS Coordinator

April 28, 2009

Washington DC - ONE welcomes Dr. Eric Goosby to the position as Global AIDS Coordinator. Today, Tom Hart, Director of Government Relations at ONE, said:

"We applaud President Obama's choice of Dr. Eric Goosby as the U.S. global AIDS Coordinator. Dr. Goosby has built a career by working directly with people who suffer from HIV and has crafted innovative strategies to fight the disease."

"PEPFAR has shown us what relatively modest resources can do to improve the health of millions. Though PEPFAR has helped keep 2 million Africans alive by putting them on AIDS treatment, there are still 5 million more people on the continent in need of treatment. We look forward to working with Dr. Goosby to build upon the record of results PEPFAR has built with support across the political spectrum."

ONE is a global advocacy and campaigning organization backed by more than 2 million people from around the world dedicated to fighting extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa. For more information please visit www.ONE.org
