With no cases of polio in Somalia in the last year, the WHO has declared the country’s massive vaccination campaign a success.

“Some 10,000 volunteers and health workers delivered multiple doses of oral vaccine to children in Somalia’s hard-to-reach villages, nomadic communities and makeshift camps that have grown as a result of clashes between Islamic insurgents, warlords and Ethiopian-backed Somali government forces.

Bruce Aylward, director of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, said the campaign showed that the virus could be stopped in highly insecure pockets of Pakistan and Afghanistan, and densely populated corners of India where sanitation facilities are lacking.”

these rich ass actors are promoting for themselves, not a cure!!!! they are raising money for more food to feed the virus. These actors are beneifiting for themselves in the process, otherwise they would be giving more than they “EARN” . which is not earnest. they would be like the middle class if they were serious about solving the issues. it is up to the actors to set a precedent and most will follow. they can afford to cure all hunger(actors) if they all put forth all money together. dont let then distract you!!!!!! the last forest that is heavily populated with life is brazil., I bet all of these actors have brazialian cherry hardwood floors in their gigantic mandions that could house a hundred but only house 2 or so. THINK FOR YOURSELF

The article was great, but the response from Brian was surely off target. Since 1985 Rotarians worldwide have joined together to eliminate Polio. These are everday people with families and children of their own taking unpaid vacations to do community service. This year every Rotarian will work toward raising 100 million dollars over the next three years, and this will be matched by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Today, right now….you can make a difference -For only 60cents you can buy a Polio Vaccine. The job is almost done and Rotary volunteers will lead the way. Hello fellow ONE member,
I appreciate Bono speaking out on behalf of the worlds poor and sick. Don’t forget that the number one question asked Obama was “Will you legalize marijuana?”. Think about the benefits that medical cannabis can have on the millions of suffering Africans. I am very disturbed when I hear that UN Police are using international aid money to persecute cannabis growers in Africa and destroy such an important beneficial crop. Bono has enormous influence on UN leaders, and some of the world’s most powerful people. Please don’t think for a moment that by removing cannabis the UN is in any way helping the poor people of Africa or any other continent. This is a grave injustice, and I’m sure the sick and dying Africans effected by such laws would agree. The cannabis plant can help to provide food, clothing, shelter, safe medicine, and eco-friendly fuel. If the One Campaign really wants to help the poor, we should let them grow hemp, and if we must get involved, help them succeed in taking advantage of the many benefits of the hemp industry.
I hope Bono keeps up the good work, and helps to stop the bad work.
    Thanx. www.nycamp.org
